Description

Stoic and perhaps a little jaded by all he has seen and experienced Vallerin holds no allusions about the world around him nor does he bother trying to fool himself into thinking people or situations are better than they actually are.He values family and honor above all else. So much so that when forced to choose between his adoptive daughter and his station he walked away from the noble houses. His station only restored due to the death of his family leaving him the sole heir to a lesser house. The hard choice made and the loss of his wife that preceded it though changed the man. Where once there was a hopeful and happy knight there now stands a man bereft and without any delusions about his homeland or the places he has since traveled. The system is broken and it is the people who suffer.... of this he holds no doubts. While he was born to a lesser house he has ever strived to lift himself up by his own merits. An expert swordsman he rose through ranks of knighthood before that was stripped from him for the events that also took his wife from him. Since then he has worked to resolve the wrongs he sees around him no matter how extreme a tactic might be needed to do so.Recently having had his life spared by a man he once sought to end believing him to hold the sole responsibility the death of his beloved. Vallerin now finds himself a man adrift in the world as it changes around him. He seeks answers to where he fits in this world, how he can make it better, and above all else how he can protect his family from the wrongs he still sees around him.

History

Vallerin was born to a lesser noble house in Ishgard. Not content with the easy life he applied himself to various disciples such as botany, the craft of teas, and swordplay. He quickly distinguished himself through hard work in studies and a natural talent with the blade. As a youth this talent saw him earn praise in friendly competition and as an adult it saw him rise through the ranks of the Temple Knights. Though he never gave up on his study of herbs or the use of them in creating herbal teas.It was during his time as a knight that he met Morgan Haillenarte, one of the youngest daughters of the high house Haillenarte. The two of them quickly fell for one another, finding comfort and happiness with one another even on the icy fields of Coerthas. Soon Vallerin proposed and not long after they were wed.Shortly after their wedding Morgan came across a young Mi'qote in the Brume and in her typical kindhearted fashion could not leave the child to fend for herself. So it was that she brought the child named Koh home to Vallerin and they adopted her. They were a family and together they were happy.... at least for a time.It was during a routine guard mission that Vallerin and Morgan ran afoul the terror of Ishgard, a menacing Dark Knight often referred to as Halone's Fury or Halone's Shadow. This figure tore through the Dusk Vigil. His prowess was frightening and most of the contingent fled or were subdued by his blade. So it was that Vallerin faced the dark figure and tried to hold him at bay skill vs skill. But in the heat of the battle a stray blow brought down half the chamber they were fighting in.... the rubble half burying Morgan in the collapse.Even as the dark figure departed, Vallerin wept. He struggled to do all he could to save his beloved but her injuries were beyond the healing magics of a simple Knight.... in the end she begged him for one last kindness, for a mercy no one else could give her. So it was that Vallerin had to watch his beloved die not the slow death the Shade had bequeathed her, but rather a swift one by his own blade. That night changed him. A night where he watched his light leave this world... and then had to explain her absence to their daughter. A night where he case aside the sword and shield no longer seeking to protect, but instead taking up a greatsword and seeking to avenge. The world was unjust, the rules only applied to those who could not break them by force of will or sheer strength... and he would have none of it.For his failure at the Vigil he was stripped of his knighthood, and without the influence of his wife and her house his family insisted he choose between station and his adopted daughter. This was the first test of his resolve, a test that saw his family fall ill even as he was nursed through illness by his daughter.... and though voices whispered throughout the nobility of poison none could ever prove anything. So it was that he ascended to control of house Rillemont. With newfound influence he began to search for the shade who had wronged him and Koh even as he trained tirelessly to surpass his limits. By the time he found the man and the prisoner he had saved it was now Vallerin who was the terrifying figure stalking his prey. In fact when they finally clashed if not for Koh staying his hand he might have ended them both then and there. But such vitriol and venom seldom breeds happy endings and so it was that he found himself alone on this hunt as his daughter developed doubts. But he could not turn away this late in the hunt.... and so instead challenged them to do battle with him once more. He poisoned himself though determined to see his daughter at least freed of this burden even as he planned to put an end to those who had brought him so much pain. But fate is a funny thing. The man he hated and hunted was full of his own regrets, and he understood Vallerin's path better than most. It was this same figure who in the end spared Vallerin's life, fought beside him to subdue a threat to that they both held dear, and then took Vallerin in... nursing him back to health. Now Vallerin struggles to find his place. Still determined to right the wrongs of the world but not sure how to do so. He offers aid to the man whom he feels he owes a great debt when he can.... but for the most part has shifted his focus to his daughter and helping them both find their place in this new and changing world. An effort aided by his recently restored Knighthood and Title. Though he does not cater to the politics of Ishgard his station affords he and his daughter a certain level of freedom.... freedom they have used to travel. It was in those travels that they perhaps found something they never knew they were looking for. A childhood friend turned something more for Vallerin and perhaps a confidant or potential maternal figure for his daughter.... what the stars hold for them next only time will tell.

Koh Entialpoh

Vallerin's adopted daughter there is little the man would not do to protect her or see her safe and happy. After recent events he has refocused his attentions on his family determined to make sure the mistakes of the past are not repeated.

Marielle Haillenarte

Marie was both the only friend Val truly had in his youth and the cousin of the woman who became his wife. What Val did not know is that for Marie he was the one who got away... a fact that has become all to clear as the pair kindle a romance with the blessing of his daughter.

Drekul Baine

The man Vallerin held responsible for the death of his wife and whom Vallerin spent years plotting to kill. Ironically it was Drekul who turned Vallerin from his destructive past via his understanding and determination. Vallerin feels he owes the man a debt for not only protecting his daughter but also sparing his life and setting him on a different path.

Hildegard Valentine

Hilde is a kind soul he first saw as a target to do harm to Drekul. He now does not know where he stands with her given his daughters actions and the fact many may view him as guilty by association. But he made arrangements to facilitate Drek's plan to keep her safe all the same. He will do what he can to make amends towards her... assuming she will let him.

Kiba Saberfang

An associate of Drek's originally considered a possibly opsticle to Vallerin's Plan. He was however crucial in keeping Vallerin alive during the battle to subdue a frenzied Styrr. As such he has earned a measure of respect from the stoic knight who feels he owes him thanks if not a small debt.

  • Lesser Noble - Vallerin was born to a noble house in Ishgard and though he spent a time stripped of title it has recently been restored meaning matters affecting nation may be reason to contact him

  • Time in Exile - He spent a time in exile for a failure on the field and suspicions regarding the death of his kin. During this time he made unsavory contacts in a search for revenge and so may be contacted regarding less savory aspects of society.

  • Halonic Knight - His knighthood recently restored Vallerin works as a Temple Knight protecting Ceorthas and Ishgard. As such trouble in the region could be brought to him.

  • Knight in Black - Though he now works through official channels more oft than not Vallerin is not beyond donning a dark visage to disguise his identity and deal with wrongs among the knights and nobility. Those wronged by those in power may find stories of a Knight in Black who can right their wrongs.

About Me

I am generally available most times for RP or other collabs. I am fairly flexible and laid back though i do try to adhere to lore as much as possible. I do however draw a hard line when it comes to character bleed and meta gaming, please keep IC and OOC separate.

General guidelines

  • 1. Keep IC and OOC seperate

  • 2. Consent is king, nothing either party is uncomfortable with should ever be on the table.

  • 3. I try to adhere to lore but am okay with lore bending in some cases, lore breaks not so much.

  • 4. Communication should be clear so as to avoid confusion both in any planning and among parties in general. If it isn't, ask for clarification.

  • 5. I do not generally do ERP though Mature themes are usually acceptable

  • 6. Last but not least, RP is meant to be enjoyable so have fun. If something hits a snag we can always talk to try and sort things out.
